BREAK IN AT FAMILIY MEDICAL CENTER DRUGS TAKEN FROM MEDICAL ARTS PHARMACY |

Early Wednesday morning, April 18, just after 6 a.m., a window in the back waiting room at the Family Medical Center was broken out and entry was made into the building. The person who broke in was cut, possibly on the head, by the broken window glass. The burglar went down the hallway, broke locks on sliding glass windows and entered the Medical Arts pharmacy. Taken were two large containers of prescription drugs. One container had 500 valium and the other 500 lorecet pills. Apparently the thief was interrupted and dropped a bag of drugs on the floor while leaving. The exit was out the same broken window as the entry. Two different intrusion alarms were activated and the Haleyville police responded within four minutes of notification of the alarms. The thief apparently had enough time to break in, steal the drugs and make an exit before the police arrived. The Haleyville police are continuing an investigation of the break-in as well at two others where jewelry and valuables were taken from homes within a half mile of the Family Medical Center. |
